How about Sergeants Joe Cook, Horace Thorpe, Paddy Steve Powers, Jimmy Mack ( First Aid), PS 8a Smith (Keep in touch), Jerry Jerome, Flash Taylor, Don Playall.
Also Inspector Sharpe. Ask Terry Oglethorpe for his yarn re Cambridge's Statue. Not forgetting Dear old Inspector Hutchinson Instructor and Duty Officer. Berty Brewington, Inspector Hughes who was also a qualified osteopath. Nice Mr Barchard and Boots Wollard a very sensible man, who joined from the War Reserves and was an excellent guvnor.
PCs Norman Appleton, Dai Llewellyn, Jim Titmus (Both Police Heavyweight Boxing Champions). Jim was President of the London ABA & I think Secretary of the ABA. I should also mention, though I never met him, Roger Hunter who was also Police Heavyweight Champ and the Pilot of the Short Sunderland in the war film 'Coastal Command'.Roger was later killed in the war. (See our War Memorial Likewise Harry Yorke.) Ian Kirkwood, Don Jeffries, ( both First Aid) Reg Webb, Harry Slipper & Terry Oglethorpe. These last three we all owe a great deal to as they were of course our Federation Reps and distinguished ones at that.
Cheers Terry Brooks 154A 138932.
